Rincon Relays

The 2012 Edition of the Rincon Relays is the 40th consecutive year that the meet has been hosted making it the longest running meet in the Tucson area.

The meet is being adjusted this year to align with the new format for qualifying for the State Meets and the declining financial situation that all schools seem to be facing in recent years. We are hoping that by adding individual non-relay events that the Rincon Relays will be more attractive to schools strapped for finances but still looking for a unique and different competition. Each gender will be competing in 16 events this year. The six field events will be scored 10-8-6-4-2-1 with the top four squads receiving medals. In the Field Events a squad is comprised of three competitors whose marks are tallied and totaled for scoring and record purposes. This format is the same as prior years. There will be seven track relays with the typical four member squads being scored 10-8-6-4-2-1 and medals to the top four teams also as in past years. NEW THIS YEAR IS THE ADDITION OF THREE INDIVIDUAL RUNNING EVENTS TO ASSIST YOUR ELITE ATHLETES IN QUALIFYING FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE STATE MEETS. The events are the 100 meter dash, the 300 intermediate hurdles, and the 1600 meter run. Each school can enter two competitors. The scoring for these individual events will be 10-8-6-4-2-1.
